my question is, are these engines known for oiling issues? Quite. That's why three of us on here developed a high volume oil pump conversion for the Packard V8, it really needs more oil and less air in the oil, two things the stock pump can't do. Rebuild kits are available from Kanter, but I recommend using different pistons than the ones in their kit.

The Olds oil pump conversion that Craig on here is selling, and if I was building a street Packard V8 I'd at least see what Keith Black can do for you. Anywhere you go they're going to be custom pistons, unless you go with Kanter or Egge, and I don't recommend Egge pistons from what I've heard about their pistons on here and several other sites.
Personally, I'd buy one from JV if I was in your shoes.
