Utramatic ratios

Hi all. New to this forum, its my first post. I hope this question hasn't been asked before. I've searched every depth of Google and most of this site with no success.

My question is... What is the drive ratio of the Ultramatic in Low and Reverse? And is it the same for the Gear-Start Ultramatic?

Thanks in advance!

The only specs I could find are for the twin ultras and that is 1.82:1 for low and 1.63:1 for reverse. Since all the transmissions, planetary wise, are virtually the same would bet the ratios for all are extremely close to those numbers. Some of the service counselors have an engine to wheels ratio so trans ratio could be figured out using the standard rear end ratio given.

This is from the 54th Series Specifications of the Service Counselors. You may be able to do the math and figure out the ratios. I am sure the other years Specification have similar information.

G'day rytomi,
to PackardInfo. You didn't say if you have a Packard but from your question I surmise you do. And if you do, could you please include it in the Packard Owner's Registry, together with a pic, any known history and how you acquired it?

Unfortunately no. No Packard yet. I've always been an enthusiest though. I've just been searching for "the right one".

Ratios of the planetary system given for the original 1949 Ultramatic are 1.818/1 for low and 1.637/1 for reverse. This data from the 1949 Serviceman's Training Book for Ultramatic Drive.
