First to PackardInfo. We don't have many members from France so you're helping to grow the numbers.

Second, had a quick look in the Kanter on-line catalog and found this for batteries. You'll probably find Max Merritt offers similar. Hope this helps.

By the way, are you attending the 2011 European Packard Meet Normandy June 2 - 5? One of the members, and his wife, from our Packard Club here in Australia is attending.

Lastly, and yes folks I'm picking up the running again in approaching new members when they first post, could you please include your beautiful '46 Super Clipper in the Packard Owner's Registry.

A commonly available battery in this country, both from the speciality suppliers like Merritt and Kanter and also from the major battery makers. But it probably isn't commonly available in France unless one of your national car makers had used it in a high-volume car.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's a Group 2E; dimensions about 19-1/2 x 4-1/8 x 9-5/8 inches.

PS - A fine looking vehicle - congratulations! If it isn't too much trouble, could you provide me with the vehicle# (1672-XXXX) and the thief-proof number (large embossed number on the firewall)?

Benjamin, welcome to the Packard family. I have a 1947 Clipper that has a battery that is for a farm tractor. I don't know if your industrial equipment would have anything similar but it might be worth checking out. Best of luck with your Packard.

Shipping charges to France from North America would be very expensive. I have bought my last two batteries for my '47 Super Clipper from a farm equipment supplier also so I would try there. There is a slighly larger size with more starting power. I believe it is a 3E which also fits the bracket but just barely. This battery size was used in tractors and road paving machines etc. here so probably also used in Europe. Good luck and if I can be of any help let me know.

Another battery that could suit your purposes is an Optima Battery which is a sealed battery smaller than original batteries but providing better performance. Also rather expensive. I have a 6V Optima Red Top in my '41 120 which is mounted on the frame rail instead of under the drivers seat.
