We are preparing to restore our recently purchased 24, 6 cylinder roadster. Can anyone help us find both front and rear bumpers and mounting brackets.

Thanks,
1stpackard

G'day Tom,
Although not your first post on PackardInfo I'll like to take this opportunity to you.

Unable to help with your request but have one of my own, could you please include your '24 Roadster and '36 Twelve in the Packard Owners Registry?

Both cars are apart and being worked on and they are our first Packards. When we get the cars on the road then we will register them.

Tom,

If your car is a 1924 it will be a 226 and it will have the bumper mounts at the ends of the frame dumb irons. The bumpers are well illustrated in the parts book which is available. If there are no bumper mounts on your car then it is more likely to be a first series 126 with 2 wheel brakes. the 126 did not have factory bumpers fitted.

Tom,

No need to wait until they are "on the road" to register them here. It's an on-line Registry for PackardInfo members' Packards. And seeing they are being worked on, maybe you could consider creating a Project Blog here about your Packard trials and tribulations

David,
Thank you, The car does not have front wheel brakes and the bumper connections were obviously cobbled together.

Could you let me know where the engine / block serial or casting number are located.

We will register the car --At the present the car is scattered across the garage floor and my wife is questioning my sanity.

Thank,
Tom Sullivan

Tom,

David is currently in Europe on holiday, taking in the 8th Euro Packard Meet, June 2-5, Normandy, France while there and won't return until mid-July. Doubt David will be close to a computer for most of the time he's away, so maybe someone else can answer your question?

And sanity is NOT a prerequisite in owning a Packard!

Engine number on later similar cars is in/near the front of the aluminum crankcase and is preceeded and followed with a star. Look on the "horns" sticking out sideways.
