1932 - Sedan, Weather Stripping on Doors

I'm getting ready to install the sheet metal at the top of the doors on my 901, 4 Door Sedan. Being flat (just like the top of the doors, I was wondering how and where the weather stripping goes for the doors and door jams.

Pictures would be greatly appreciated.

No direct knowledge about 1932, but in 1934 closed cars there was a piece of steel at the top edge of the door into which a "T" rubber strip inserted upside down (base of the T upwards) to form the upper door seal against the roof. Nothing on the sides or bottom.

If you think a picture of this would be helpful, let me know and I'll go out and snap a photo.

OD,

I've seen that same setup on 33's. The sheet metal on the top of my 32's door jam doesn't have the channel for the "T" shaped rubber that you mention on your 34.

I'm guessing that Packard changed how they did weather stripping between 32 & 33 or the sheet metal on the door of my door jams is not original.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

G'Day Ozstatman,

Thank you for the kind words. I had a few people help me along the way....so if I can reciprocate a little....

BTW the interior is original, I wonder if BigKev would create an area for original interior pictures from any of us that have cars with original interiors.

We can replace mechanical components, paint, chrome, etc...but I feel the details of how the cars were trimmed out needs to be recorded for posterity...

Regards,

Dave

Dave,

UNBELIEVABLE! I can't thank you enough for the photos. They'll come in handy as I work on installing the top, metal door jams and rain gutters. Right now I have both gutters straighten, primed and drilled for nailing. The left gutter has been fitted and temporarily tacked in place with small nails every 8" or so.

When I get the gutters all installed, I'll post how I did it on my blog.

There is no doubt that your photos will a great help whilst I scratch my head trying to figure out how all these parts that I bought go back together make a Packard.

AGAIN THANKS

Good photos of details from original & unmolested cars are always welcomed here. Full identification of the car would also be needed - year, model, body type, etc.
