Chauffeur livery

Hello chaps

I have secured my first wedding booking for next year and I'm looking to have the correct period livery made.

I have found a tailor who makes traditional British chauffeur uniforms but I wanted to have him make it in an American style.

Internet searches have proved fruitless so I wonder whether anyone can post period images of chauffeurs or recommend a supplier.

Thanks

You might want to drop-in on the folks at the Fedora Lounge Forum . They love to talk about anything related to the "Golden-Era" (roughly defined as 1920-1960), and have extensive information there about period correct attire for all occasions.

Good luck!

Couple of pic's of a '22 Town Car and it's Chauffeur, probably not "period correct", at a New Zealand Packard Rally in 2008.

The older Emily Post's Blue Book of Social Usage are good resources. Livery was either generic, or in really grand situations, specific to the family (ie Vanderbilt Maroon)

I am sure uniform styles changed over the years and it would help to know the decade at least you are looking for (year of car being used)?
