Does any one know where I can buy a lock latch mechanism for the drivers side door of a 1940 coupe?
It is made by "Ferro" Detroit MI.
Thankfully,

G'day Al,
to PackardInfo, but sorry I can't help with your request. However I invite you to include your '40 Club Coupe in the Packard Owner's Registry here on PackardInfo.

there are two replaceable springs in the latch mechanism. I believe John Ulrich sells both.

Unfortunately, the spring is fine. The metal has broken from within.

You can also try John Ulrich for the mechanism (510) 223-9587.

Or Max Merritt.

Al,
for including your '40 One-Twenty Club Coupe in the Packard Owner's Registry.

See in your Project Status you say this "OD not working as of this writing. Electrical, not mechanical. Nor is the temp gauge or speedometer." Regarding the OD, a good check and clean of all the connections and contacts may be all that's required, that was basically what was done with my '41 120 Coupe. Temp gauge is mechanical with a bourdon tube supplying pressure to the gauge. If the tube or the gauge have leaked that may be why it isn't working. Found a guy here(Sydney, Australia) but that's no use to you. Someone else may be able to provide details of someone closer to you who can. The speedo could be a number of things but a broken cable is the simplest to check and fix. Good luck.

By the way, there's lots of info on my Blogs here:

Mal's '41 120 Coupe No longer active but lots of info on the rebuild of my '41.

Wade's Workshop Current blog with stuff on the '41 as well as lots of info about other Packards. You'll just need a couple of free days to read through it all!

Thanks for the info..
Must be a lot of Packard guys in Australia and New Zealand.
We just bought the Packard. I will be looking forward to this experience. I am sure we (The car and I) will get along well, as we get to know each other.
Al
