I just added a quick review of Robert J. Neal's new book to the Packard Bookshelf. GREAT book.

That's certainly a welcome and long-awaited addition to the 'shelf.

Yet, is this title really "Out of Print" so soon?

I've skimmed but just started a real read and not even thru chapter two. Have already read and learned things never mentioned in any other book that I can recall & expect much more to come. Just in some of the wartime decisions he covered in chapter one makes it another of those books well worth adding to your library--even if you are not particularly enamored with those models.

I am from South Africa and own a 1950 standard 8. I will definitely be interested in buying this book. Can it be purchased online from somewhere? So that it can be posted to South Africa? thanks

Mal, after the first 100 copies available for signing by the author are gone (and they probably are by now), the exclusive source for the book will be Dwight Heinmuller.

See his advertisement at:

PS - Dwight advises checks only, no credit card sales.

Here is Dwight's website.http://packardparts.org/index.htm Don't think it has been updated to show the book is available yet but send an email with your inquiry. He responds fairly quickly.

Hmmmmm, this will pose a problem for buyers outside the US. Although checks can be drawn in the country of the purchaser in US dollars against a US bank, they are called overseas drafts, they are expensive. Plus, unless Dwight's bank is a branch the draft is drawn on in the US, they are not cleared through the usual check clearing system and take considerable time to do so for the funds to then become available to the seller.

Call or email Dwight, I'm only relaying what he asked me to convey. Are international postal money orders still in play? Might be an alternative.
