Ebay 55 Patrician -> listed in owners registry.

I have been following along with this 55 Pat on ebay motors.
Hopefully mine will look close to this someday.

Then I was looking through the 5582 list in the owners registry and saw what I think is the same car listed as owned by Morgan.

The auction ended first at what he's set the low price this time. Wonder what he's hoping to get for it.

Believe it is the same car and was up for sale at least once before. Was in reasonably good condition when bought and has had more work done on it so should be a fairly decent car now. IIRC, a project blog was started a couple of years ago.

Like all things, believe interests can change so perhaps there is a different car to invest time and money in. Morgan posted some photos not too long ago of a pretty decent looking pickup that he also has been doing.

With my interest in maintaining the Owner Registry I have sent Captain Morgan, the seller in the eBay listing, a message concerning this thread.

Howard,
Do you recall the Blog website for the restore? I'd love to find it to help learn for my own.

I searched for IIRC but didn't find much.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,

Using the search function at the foot of this page"

- Click on Advanced Search

- Highlight "Search All Forums"

- Complete "Morgan" in the Author field

- Click on the "Search" button

This will give you all Morgans posts.

If you have other parameters these can be utilised instead to narrow your search. I tried "Project Blogs" and "Morgan" and found nothing so it would seem he didn't have a specific Blog.

Thought it was under Morgan's name but don't see it now. I could be in error about him making one but also wonder if it might have been one of the large threads that was deleted. There were a few that posters removed for various reasons or when they left. Several large ones disappeared in early days before Kev changed the policy and put a time limit on deletions.

If you do an advanced search in forums for "Morgan" there are several individual threads that come up. He made new subjects when detailing some of his issues. One is Hello to all and another was something about A nice day in Florida and another about locking brakes.

Had a response from Captain Morgan to my eBay query.

I asked "...Because of my interest in the Owner Registry on PackardInfo I'd appreciate if you could let me know when the Patrician is sold so I can notate the Registry entry accordingly..."

And he responded "...You bet. Thanks for the message..."

This Patrician appears to be a fine restored example. That is, until one views the interior with all that aftermarket "shiny synthetic" fabric! When are Packard enthusiasts going to realize that these choices are so wrong? Even if one can't afford the actual reproduction fabrics available from SMS, one can use Kanter's $25.00 a yard broadcloths for seat bolsters. These fabrics at least have the "hand" and low sheen of the original interior fabrics. I realize that sometimes cost is an issue--I face it too--but a little searching and careful thought to replacements can make a huge difference. I realize that since I am an interior designer by trade, this issue is particularly important to me.

Being the purist I am, it does seem a shame to have what appears to be otherwise such an outstanding car with such a glaring mismatch. More the shame that fabric was selected when there is such a large array of wool broadcloths readily available, though I'd think more in terms of Bill Hirsch and LeBaron Bonney as sources rather than SMS, if for no other reason than SMS's reputation for spotty (or worse) customer service.

For that matter, the available selection of wool broadcloths is pretty good as well for the striped materials.

Maybe i'm wrong, but the material doesn't look shiney to me.
Looks like some sort of plush fabric. It does look vary comfortable.
