This might be a obvious question to some but are the frames for the 2dr and 4dr the same 48-50 standard 8 cars? I ended up getting a car that had some ugly stuff done to the frame and also a parts car that is junk but has an intact frame and drivetrain.

to PackardInfo. Sorry I can't help with your question, I'll leave that to the much more knowledgeable. But can you please include your '49 and the parts car in the Owner Registry together with pic's, any known history and how you acquired them?

The answer is probably yes, but it would be really helpful if you could provide the body types of the vehicles in question. This would be the first 4 numerics of the Vehicle Number.

Here's the frame dimensions so you can compare the two chassis.

The '49 4 door I bought back in 2000 from a wrecking yard and was sitting on top of a shipping container since the early 70's with a Hudson Hornet.... long story short they closed up and if nobody wanted them they were going to scrap, so I gave him $200 and drug her home. It was last driven in '63 (by the National Park sticker in the window) after that time the motor was pulled for a rebuild. The owner died in '66, rebuilt motor was placed in trunk and she was hauled off to the wrecking yard to live the rest of her life atop a storage/shipping container. Overall shape would be considered poor due to just sitting but it is complete. Since having it on the ground for the last 9 years it has really started to get bad.
The '49/'50? 2 door is in better shape and was found in a barn a few houses down from my in-laws house when the owner decided he wanted them gone.... the only catch with it was that I had to take the '52 2 door also. Both of the cars are runners but the interiors are ruined due to time and rodents.

Thats the one. IIRC it was called Pegasus Wrecking the yard might still be there.
I never really even looked at the '52 2dr. to see what it is. It was sort of a thorn in my side because I didn't need another project car sitting around, and the neighbors get all weird with all the "junky old cars" in the driveway. The '52 is starting to grow on me so I'll keep her around.

was curious if the 52 was a buisness coupe. they are pretty rare. i have wanted one for a long time. i had one found, but some one had put a deposit on it so i couldn't have it. as far as i know, it got chrushed
