Ante Note - this posting has not been sanctioned or approved by Bigkev.

Thanksgiving. Maybe a day to catch up on some thoughts. I my case I am very thankful for my friends - and like our ancestors, I have welcomed many "indians" to dine at my table.

I have gained many friends through this website. It is INVALUABLE to Packard owners, everywhere. I believe many of us 'tune-in' just to see what Kevin is doing next on The Jackard. He has a massive winter agenda for what He can do, however the knocking sound from within the engine is "above his pay grade". A while back there was discussion of whether to go back to a Packard Six, or see to the Jag motor. I feel the Jag motor is what makes this car special, and the engineering has been done. To go back to a Packard Six would be going backwards on many levels.

So here is the opportunity - it ain't cheap to go through a Jag motor, and frankly wouldn't be much cheaper to do a Packard Six completely. No used/ready engines of either type have surfaced. I say WE "Packardinfo Fund" the overhaul of the Jag motor.

The minimum cost is 6 grand. This is not charity, this is not a poverty case. This is an opportunity for us to collectively support the one person who has done more for the internet Packard community than anyone. Way more. This is a fact, not a statement for debate.

I am willing to start this with a $500 commitment AND for the next two days (ending midnite November 30) will match your commitments up to another $500.

I could go on with more rationale, but I think it is clear that our taking care of this element of the Jackard's resurrection would be great. Feels good for me to do this - how about you?

The DONATE button is electronically easiest, or if you prefer to mail payment, not sure if Kevin wants his address posted, so PM me for it. Might be good to post your amount so we can keep a tally to reach the goal...

Wow! I love this! I can't even put into words how much I've gotten from the Packardinfo community. I do know that I likely would not have my car running yet without this group and web site. That means I also would not have been able to get Mom and Dad out in the car again. And, I likely wouldn't have had some of the great time with Dad....at the local Cruise Night or learning how to use his lathe to build a part. On top of that, I've made a lot of new friends, some who I've met in person and many others I've yet to meet outside of this site. I can't even imagine how much time Kevin puts into this site and his Jackard is a really cool car. I too, would love to see it stay that way. I've made donations to the site along the way, but I know they don't line up to how much I've gained from the site and all of you.

Separate from David, I'll kick in $500 and will also match any commitments up to another $500 between now and Christmas. I won't double up on David's match...my matches will need to come from different people than David matches.

Happy Thanksgiving....let's make this happen!

One off $500USD donation, equilvalent to $800+ AUD.

I've had years of enjoyment stemming from PackardInfo not to mention the companionship of it's many members. In this way we can repay BigKev in some small measure for everything he does for the members.

Long live the Jackard!

Thank you to everyone, I wasn't expecting this, and I am a bit loss for words, but its greatly appreciated.

I had resigned myself to getting through the body work and trying to ignore the engine, probably until a rod ended up going walkabout. But perhaps this effort will help to get it closer to reality.

The Jackard wouldn't be the Jackard without the XK motor in it, and as Flackmaster already said going through and sorting an existing Packard motor is still not a cheap endeavor, and then it would involve un-enginerring all the changes that have already been done, and sourcing all the missing supporting parts. As David said, the entry point on the Jag motor is around 6k and that's if it just needs bearings and rings. The bottom end is the cheap part, the top end is like doing a top end on a twelve, anf that's where it could dramatically climb.

So thank you.
