Hello,

I am currently on tour with my son in France in our Model 902. We are hoping to make a "service stop" in Strasbourg, and are currenlty seeking help to find a garage that assist us with basic maintenance (fuids change, suspension check-up, etc.). We expect to be in Strasbourg next Wednesday June 26th. I tried the Packard Club of France's website, but it seems to have gone fallow. Interested in any advice any can share, thank you!

If you are a member of The Packard Club (aka Packard Automobile Classics), you can log into the Members Only section and access the club's membership list. I currently show four (4) PAC members in France, but cannot post the names here. Send me a private message if you'd like.

Andrew,

This is a somewhat long way around your problem, unless BigKev can provide a ready listing of French PackardInfo members here on PackardInfo.

First - Select the "Advanced Search" field near the top right of this page.

Second - Type "France" into the "Keywords" field then tick the "Vehicle Registry" box and press the "Search" button.

This will provide a list of 5 Packard, all of which should have a connection to France, hopefully as a Packard owner.

This list can be expanded to provide more Packards by clicking on the "Show all Results" field at the bottom of the sting;

Then click on a user name and send a PM.

I have no connections in Strasbourg (but do enjoy fresh Grimbergen) however I have a good Packard mate on the north side of Paris, should the need arise for a friend.

I have a good friend in Strasbourg but unfortunately he’s not a car person. I tell him of my trials and tribulations of working on Packards but most of it is over his head.

I never got contact with the Packard Club of France, but did succeed to find a place for service through a serendipitous contact with the Automobile Club de France. Oddly enough, on the same trip I did (twice!) run into Packard owners of the Packard Club of Finland (Nordic Packard Club, to be precise); there seems to be a disproportionately high number of Packards in Finland. Who knew?!

I don't know why they were so popular over there, but on this site you can find original Finnish versions of many ads and docs from back in the day.

Packard was fortunate in having an extremely active sales agent in Finland, Autola Oy, in the prewar years. I have copies of most of their import records for 1936-1939 should anyone have a specific need. During that period Autola Oy imported and sold a bit over 200 Packards. The data I have shows model, paint scheme, axle ratio, vehicle number, motor number, theft-proof number, date shipped from the U.S., date delivered, and name of purchaser. Most were junior models with just a very small sprinkling of Super Eights, Twelves, and 1 chassis presumably for custom coachwork.
