I would have sworn that Packard went to low pressure cooling systems in the Junior cars starting with the 1938 models and their "packless" water pumps. Often mistaken, but never confused.

Well all i can say is - Thank you Guys, for the help
I did have Three hairs on my head and two were loose now i have ONE.. I'll, will go with Ozstatman-JD-Owen-JT-BH- Fred i haven't read that book?, and i am sure it has nothing on 1939 Packard 120 Radiator Caps?? still i did have a laugh over it nice one. Stupidicus (i will remember that - might come in handy at meetings)Bill.

Easy way to see if you need a pressure cap or not- see where the over flow tube enters the radiator. If it goes into the tank - no pressure. If it goes into the neck then you might have a pressure radiator[

i do have an overflow pipe coming from the neck and the rad - cap is 2 - 4 lbs, and it looks like it seals? i just thought of buying a new cap as it looks it age. thanks for your input. i just thought that anyone with the same vehicle a, 1939 120 8 cyl would know!what rad-cap to get?

The presurized cap for my 1940 1808 is available at Napa. The cost is around $4-5.

I agree with Bobs51... that filler neck takes a pressure cap.
