Interesting question about the Clipper being a six or an eight. I tend to agree with Scott.
Here is my take on the 21st Series Clippers: Six - No whiskers and no "Clipper" on sides. Eight - No whiskers and "Clipper" on sides. Deluxe Eight - Whiskers and "Deluxe Clipper" or "Clipper Deluxe" on sides (depending on which side being read). Super Eight - Whiskers and "Super Clipper" or "Clipper Super" on sides (depending on which side being read). Custom Super - Whiskers and no "Clipper" on sides. What do you all think? (o{}o)

An associate went to look at this Biz coupe

Or you can spend more $ on a 36 v12 club sedan that needs everything!

Certainly looks like a nice car. I wonder if it smokes because of issues or if there was some sort of upper cylinder lube added to the fuel and the smoke will eventually go away.

That's too bad that the motor smokes but as others point out, we don't know why. I am not a flathead knoweldgeable guy but I know on OHV motors there were only 3-4 reasons for an oil burning situation. It could be running rich.
On CL, there always seems to be a reason a car is modestly priced and doesn't sell right away. In this case I am not sure I would be dissuaded at that price. The worst case scenario is a partial engine rebuild but you would still be ahead. I agree it makes no difference to me that this is a bottom line Packard, it's a well executed design with 8 cyl power and a period nice interior. Somebody buy it!
