Seeing more Packard history from the past connects me more to my Packard's now. I really have an appreciation of the innovations Packard was known for. Let the history roll on.

The location of this dynamometer room is neither at the Packard Plant on East Grand Boulevard nor the Packard Proving Grounds in (Utica) Shelby Township, MI. Rather is was located at a special garage building not far from the Packard Factory Branch located at 574 E. Jefferson Ave.

The PPG did not officially open until June 14, 1928 and I do not recognize any of the architecture in the background.

Sorry that I could not make the Texas meet this year, hope the Blue Bonnets and Indian Paintbrushes were as plentiful as last year.

Interesting photo! Obviously a wide angle lens which gives distortion to the perspective, perhaps the room wasn't deep enough to use a normal focal length; it's rather curious that there is also a rotating drum at the front wheels and that that the car is held stationary by attaching to the sturdy framework behind the car.

Anyone care to better identify the car? I'm not all that keen on the changes in the 1st thru 3rd Series Eights, my guess by the front fender crown would be a 3rd series Eight (with a Pines Winterfront) but the # of wheel lugs says otherwise?

Roger, thanks for the photo info. Regardless of the location the Proving Grounds and Foundation received some more good publicity.

I only went to the Meet on Saturday, arriving mid-morning and departing mid-afternoon. Attendance was down from previous years. The hotel is much nicer than the Stagecoach, and Kerrville has much more to offer visitors than Salado. The space for swap meet and Packard display is better than what was available at the Stagecoach. The organizers did a great job with the new site. I have heard that the 2017 Meet is again to be held in Kerville. Not sure about the dates, but they will be around March 31st. Looking forward to the 40th Meet.
