Does anyone know if any of these are still out there? Looks very interesting.

IIRC, Mr. Pushbutton built his own version of this.

Wonder how many of those trainers were made. Said they were for zones but IIRC, in one of the counselors there is a photo of mechanics undergoing Ultra training at a dealership with something similar to that board in the background so would think there might have been more than one.

Don't recall reading in any publication of anyone seeing it at any of the meets but maybe publicity will get an answer or a sighting. Surely there has got to be one that survived hidden away in a private collection or garage somewhere. There was a small model of a torsion level system of which speculation said had vanished only to have that item make an appearance at a meet a few years back so maybe one of the trainers will also be seen.

Yes, despite how bulky they are, it's hard to believe that they wouldn't have been kept for a while by at least some dealers/mechanics for training new employees, if they were as useful as they sound like. Then as a curiosity past that.

Unlike some hobbies, many "Packard people" seem to have little interest in using the internet, and even if so, often have little desire to brag about their collections, so unless you happen to talk to the right person at some meet, there's no doubt that stuff may easily get "lost" for years or decades as Howard gave an example of.

For example, I am continually surprised by the number of V-8 cars that I find for sale NOT in the Packard rosters. Of course, the reason is somewhat the opposite of the above as most of these cars are in poor condition. Still though, a reminder that not everything is on the internet even though it can often appear to be so.

Re-creating one of these would be REALLY cool; pretty much would be a big circuit of solenoids and reed switches. Don't tempt me...

Sadly, the average age of most Packard folks is probably 65+. When my wife and I go to events, we are typically some of the youngest ones there, and we are in our early 50s. I got my '54 when I was 32. So you can imagine the age gap then. So I would say many of the owners over 75 are not as computer centric as the folks that are younger.

It's not related, but thanks for pointing that out. Might pick up a couple.

OE KR Wilson gauge sets come up from time to time, but the pan spacer seems to be hard to find.

There was also Snap On set, in a metal box, for multi-makes, including Packard, but you have to make sure all the adapters are still there.
