Did Packard use the type of radiator neck that would accept a pressurized cap on the pre 40 or so models? I thought the earlier ones used an inside neck ear type cap?

I would have sworn that Packard went to low pressure cooling systems in the Junior cars starting with the 1938 models and their "packless" water pumps. Often mistaken, but never confused.

Easy way to see if you need a pressure cap or not- see where the over flow tube enters the radiator. If it goes into the tank - no pressure. If it goes into the neck then you might have a pressure radiator[

The presurized cap for my 1940 1808 is available at Napa. The cost is around $4-5.

I agree with Bobs51... that filler neck takes a pressure cap.
