"...modern and historical crimes. Kidnapping. Murder. Mayhem. They're as old as human history, and as fascinating."

Another case, cited occasionally in the Packard lore, was the murder of famous architect Stanford White in NYC by Harry K. Thaw, and Thaw's subsequent escape from the Matteawan Prison for the Criminally Insane in a Packard, the authorities in lesser vehicles unable to catch up with him.

Here's a short quote from the AQ special issue on Packard from 1962: "Harry K. Thaw, the millionaire slayer of Stanford White, excaped in a Packard six from the Matteawan, NY, State Asylum for the Criminal Insane. In dashing to Connecticut and freedom from extradition, the machine attained a speed of 80 mph - fast for 1913. The Packard Magazine reproduced newspaper accounts of Thaw's feat with the comment: When high speed is absolutely imperative, ask the man who owns one."

I believe Junior, the '40 110 Sedan, currently resident at the workshop was used as a getaway car in a bank robbery. Maybe Junior's Dad, John, may care to elaborate?

A movie for Lifetime Channel was also made about Charlie Starkweather. In the movie, they used a 55 Pat as a "stunt double" for the original 56 Pat. In one scene, Charlie and GF are stopped at a light in a small town in the Pat and a cop pulls up next to him and comments (paraphrasing), "Nice car!" LOL!!!

The famous Miranda Rights comes from a man named Miranda who was arrested in a 53 Packard. One of the seniors, I believe.

Hi Folks:

According to John Toland, "The Dillinger Days" the Dillinger Gang used a brand new Packard in a robbery.

The cops shot the radiator and the Packard broke down.

"...Agents determined from Miller's description of the car that the abductors drove a Packard coupe. They traced hundreds of such cars in the area. ..."

This could have been the area of the golden anniversary celebrations. Below you can see, that the police already cordoned off the crime scene. If you had thought that all the Packard's have been forged in the same furnace then enjoy this unique golden convertible.

Another evidence photo probably taken by the forensic people. It shows the crime scene investigation or so it seems. I think that the color picture above is most qualified because it visualizes the blood-red carped.
