You can buy a pneumatic flanger/puncher at HF for less than $30 that does a pretty decent job making step flanges for replacement panels. Take a look at my project (near the end) to see how I used it,

Regards

Brad(hbk4041O),
for including your '51 200 Deluxe Touring Sedan in the Packard Owner's Registry.

Also hope you don't mind me including this quote from your PM "...can't wait to start working on my car. I have only had it a couple of weeks and already love it..." Great sentiments!

Been a while, but I'm back on the Clipper project. Currently I'm working on the frame, so I can put the body back on. As long as the frame is off, it's really easy to do all the brake/fuel lines and clean and paint the frame.

I've been on the fence about the transmission in the car. It works, but not flawlessly. My ultimate vision for the car is a highway cruiser with the wife and kids so overdrive is very desirable. Bob Bendtsen's Shop is about 1 mile from mine and he's now making an adapter for a Chevrolet automatic tranny. So, I've decided that the Ultramatic has to go and in it's place will be a 700R4.

I pulled the motor and trans to more easily clean up the frame and whatnot.

Question1: As long as the motor is out, should I do the Olds pump conversion?

Question2: What's the going rate for a used Ultramatic Transmission?

I just don't understand the different chrome designs on the same model cars....I also have a deluxe but it has the straight chrome instead of the curved....was it owner option?

Have him make about 10 adapters. You could sell them to recoup costs/make some dough.

I know I'd buy one.

Bendtsen's adapter for the V8 has been out for a few months. I posted some photos some time ago taken by Bendtsen for another member as prototype was installed in his car. Haven't heard any drive reports yet.

There is a discussion here with a few of the reasons.

That is a real slick set up.

I'll comment further in that thread. Thanks HH56.
