That trim is off of a 22nd series Custom. The hood ornament is also from a 22nd, 23rd or 24th series.

Yes, it should be a 356. The engine number given is correct for a 21st series (1947) 356.

Does the 22nd series hood ornament bolt to a 21 series hood without serious modification? Apologize for poor photo. Thanks

Not sure what body style a 2172 is, maybe a 2122? Engine number is from a late 21st series. Interesting use of 22nd Custom rear grille trim.

?? ?? ?? Why are you invoking 2122? It is a Series 2103, a model 2172 Super 4dr Touring, all the numbers point to, and verify that it is, a late 21st series

Looks like bolt on items to me.

I think the hood ornament looks much better than those surfing bird things.

I'd think if Dave, O_D, wasn't off on vacation he'd have commented on the variance between the Cowl and Briggs numbers. From memory, failing at best at the moment, it's usually within about 25. In this instance it's over 550 numbers apart. Another point, I see the Briggs tag below the Thief Proof is secured with Philips head screws!

EDIT - Disregard this post, once again I have got things wrong!

Oz, My, my . .Is this unusual? I have inspected a lot of 1947 Clippers and many have Briggs tags secured with Phillips head screws and some others have slotted screws. As do mine vary also . .

Another thing, my records (25) of the 21st Series Super Touring sedans show a variance ranging from 413 to 555 so I don't understand your concern.

You are correct, a 2103 2172 is a Clipper Super Touring Sedan.
