Wow. Not for the faint of heart. Can't image many offers will be fortchcoming. My thoughts are that it would prudent for the present owner to allow parting prior to crushing. He'll still get his $ 350 dollars as the recycler won't care what's been removed.

..... RED pedal for clutch?
Good luck. The 47 looks to be a challenge. I'm doing a 47 Custom and it isn't anywhere near that far gone. Even so it still needs at lot and is costing quite a bit. Can only imagine what that one would set you back. Even if not original, the windshield visor looks to be about the best part of that car and maybe worth getting if you can. The red pad would indicate at one time the car had the Electromatic vacuum operated clutch option. A nice unique Packard feature but if they acted up, frequently owners didn't want to fool with them when they needed adjustment. If they were not working and owners didn't want it fixed then mechanics didn't want to fight the mechanism for access to something else. In either case, many times it was disabled and all or just a component in the way of something else was removed. If the car still has the option intact there will be a control mechanism mounted on the drivers side of the engine head. It will be connected to a cylindrical power cylinder down low. A wire rope connects the power unit to the clutch mechanism.

There isn't anything of value on those cars. I've dealt with junk yard cars and even the gears inside the transmission will be corroded. When Turnquist was buying out junkyard V-12s back in the 50's he put them under cover. He had quite a stockpile because the lesser Super 8's usually got crushed while they held onto the V-12's.

G'day Bryan,
As you're a stalwart on the AACA Website, I have followed many of your threads. Not the least being this recent one, and gladly ![]() And now you're here, I invite you to include your 22nd series Custom 8 Sedan, as well as any of the farm Packards if you should purchase them, in the Packard Owner's Registry here on PackardInfo! Or, if you don't purchase any of them, could you provide the Thief Proof Number and Body(VN) Numbers for PackardInfo's Owen_Dyneto for his research into these?

Regarding the Clipper... it has sunk so far into the ground I'd be concerned about more than just the floor pans. Wheels, brake assemblies, gas tank, and possibly even the frame might be rust damaged beyond use.
Other than the tail light lenses, there doesn't seem to be much there that wouldn't require a herculean effort and buckets of cash just to make it drivable.
