Pretty good. Jit, what's your background? Do you own one, or are just interested?

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

G'day Jit Maz,
to PackardInfo. See you're from India, not too many Forum Members from that part of the world.

If you have a Packard. I invite you to include it in PackardInfo's Packard Vehicle Registry.

I am new to the forum as well. I have always admired Packards and have purchased Packard automobilia at Hershey. 1 month ago I added to the collection with a 1953 Packard Clipper Sportster. What a fantastic car which lives up to the Packard reputation for quality and craftsmanship. What a joy to drive! A definite upgrade from my 40 Chevy Special Deluxe which is a nice car, but it’s just not the same. Attached is a photo and I will input the car data into the forum registry soon

Very nice body style. I'd call it a coupe. I believe that top is shorter front-to-back than either the two door sedan or the four door sedan. Ford would have called it a club coupe.

Packard introduced their version of that two door styling with the 51 models. Because they still had the center pillar and essentially the same styling as the 4 door sedans called them club sedans. For 53 under the new management, Packard was trying to upgrade their image to appeal to a younger customer so bumped up the trim level and standard equip list slightly on some of them and renamed those cars Sportsters in 53 and 54.

The pillarless 2 door styling built off the convertible bodies was also sold concurrently but was more expensive, sold as the hardtop models Mayfair thru 53 and Pacific in 54.

My father had a 53 Sportster in his new car inventory. It was maroon and cream. The head legal counsel at Los Alamos purchased it. Never saw the car again. One of my favorites. Like the color combination on your Sportster. Most attractive.
