I have no clue what that refers to. I wasn't around in 1948.

Sorry--thought most everyone had seen that famous picture at some point. A re-elected President Truman holding a copy of the Chicago Tribune bearing a huge headline declaring Dewey the winner.

Ok, I think I heard something about that, but wasn't aware that it was the Chicago Tribune.

This event - the first-ever gathering of these seven significant concepts (six cars from Ralph Marano, PLUS the Predictor from the Studebaker museum) - is now a little over a week away, and I've bumped this topic back to the top of the list.

With an 8-9 hour drive each way, the Packards concepts on display Sunday only, and having to be at work bright and early Monday AM, I don't think I will be able to make this one.

Owen_Dyneto has previously advised that, due to prior commitments, he will be unable to attend.

Does anybody else plan on attending and can they get plenty of good pix of each of these cars for P'Info?

Just got back from the show.It was something special. The Panther Daytona and the Request are not restored but they are nice.If I know Ralph, they will be just as nice as the Balboa and the Macauley Coupe when he is done.I love the Predictor and the Request.

Not that anyone gives a flying fig but I have had the wonderful experience of having actually sat in the Predictor back in the late 70's. Was in South Bend visiting the Avanti factory (this was shortly after Nate Newman passed away). When I was on my way out of town I spotted the Predictor thru a showroom window and locked up the brakes on my rent-a-wreck right in the middle of the street! (that's how little traffic there was in SB at the time LOL)

Pulled over and parked, went up to the museum's door and found it locked. Looked thru the window about to cry in my soup and saw someone sweeping up. Tapped on the window and pleaded like the sniveler that I am and he actually let me in!

He let me and my buddy look around and even let me sit in the Predictor (which some of you may have surmised holds a special place in my empty head). Sorry that I don't recall the gentleman's name at this late date but I'd like to thank him if anyone can figure out who this may have been.

Just my unsolicited drivel, carry on, nothing to see here.

In another thread, a link was provided to a NY Times article, but my antivirus picked up a Trojan Horse and I aborted the connection.

A little Googling turned up a link to the same piece, without virus:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/13/automobiles/collectibles/13packard.html

What caught my eye was the '53 Balboa - sporting a different color than what I was expecting.
