1941 One-Sixty Not Charging

Looking for some advice on how to diagnose possible issues related to a battery not charging.

Not sure if it is the generator itself or the regulator. I have a feeling it is related to the circuit breaker on the regulator?

I do have a new regulator, however, it is negative ground...should I be concerned about exchanging since the car is positive ground?

Thanks, Steve

With the motor running at a reasonably fast idle, use a short jumper wire and quickly jump the Field terminal on the regulator to ground. If the ammeter shows full charge, the generator is OK and the regulator is at fault. If it shows nothing, the generator is at fault. Do not relace a positive ground regulator with a negative ground regulator.

Or if you wish, Ross has described several times recently his quick method of testing a generator by seeing if it will "motor". A quick search should find those posts.

Yes, both tests are needed to absolutely isolate the culprit component(s). They are easy to do.
