Wilkommen Oberfranke!
I just moved out of Bavaria/Munich to Baden W?rrttenburg/Stuttgart. My packard came with me. I also upgraded from a 3 speed to an Overdrive unit, but have not gotten to test the OD at higher speeds yet. Everybody says it will be great when the OD is working. For my 53 it was a simple bolt in. @ gusha and flackmaster: I am also interested in the 2017 Euro meet in Germany. It is 240 miles for me to drive, so I hope I can make it there. I have to convince the wife that it will be a good birthday celebration for me (14th of June) -Ich kann auch was ?bersetzen falls n?tig. Viele gr??e!

To see what it might take to install a Gear Vendors in your car, you should look at how Dave (32Model901) undertook the project for his '32 901.

Many thanks for helpful comments and the welcome. Thank you also for the very significant contribution of flackmaster.
@Guscha and Tobs: Thanks for the help offered. I would like to come back to it. I have a one-year repair odyssey behind me. Had previously only contact with Max Merritt and Kanter. But the car is now running like clockwork. But I have minor problems that I will best represent separate forum. The 51 MayfairOverdrive gear I have not yet purchased. It has never been installed and is a NOS part. The transmission ratio range is: 1st ... 2.03: 1 2nd ... 1.28: 1 3rd ... 1: 1 Overdr. 0.61: 1! Rev. 2.65: 1 But perhaps the installation of overdrive of Gear Vendors better choice would be if I get a complete kit. I would like to compare between two options: -Costs (Installation would make my workshop) -What variant brings the optimal transmission -Possibility of dismantling At the moment I can not longer tours over 40 mph driving otherwise I suffer with the engine. Ideal conditions would be about 65 mph. So I am no longer an obstacle in the rush hour. However, here come on stronger wind noise and you have to concentrate on steering. I am also really looking next year at the Germany meeting. All I know currently unfortunately. I am also a passive member in the Swiss Packard Club. Sunny greetings from Bavaria Gerd

I have posted my findings before but I'll do it again. Using a GPS and a tachometer - my 38 coupe with the R11 runs 66 mph at 2500 RPM

Oberfranke - 40 sounds questionable - what rear end ratio is in your car, stamped between two bolts, flat face, of center/pumpkin differential housing?
Phil - yes, your continued support at the Church of the Holy Overdrive is appreciated. For the record, what rear end ratio is in your car?

Flackmaster-I could see no number at the differential.
I do not want to cut the original propeller shaft. Could you get a replica somewhere? greetings Gerd
