1934 Packard three-quarter left side view, top raised, owner standing at driver's door with small boy sitting on running board. Inscribed on photo back; Packard 1107 twelve, eleventh series, 12-cylinder, 160-horsepower, 142-inch wheelbase, 5-person convertible sedan (body type #743), Sultan of Langkat, Dutch East Indies.

Interesting photo, and some unusual features including non-stock radiator cap and fender lights. And what appears to be painted wheels with chromium plated spokes. This wheel configuration is quite popular today on restorations though I can't ever recall seeing it listed as available back then. As I recall the wheel options were limited to painted wire spoke, all chromium plated wire spoke, wooden artillery, and disc (disteel).

Think this is a '40 Packard in Cairo, Egypt.

A Y.M.C.A. in Cario? Strictly for ex-pats? Still, an interesting photo and caption. Thanks for sharing.

Here is another period picture of plated spokes, which make the unlisted option more authentic than painted radiator shells on 32-34 eight cylinder cars for which I am still searching for one single verifiable period picture. I have two pictures from the late forties - Gordon Webber's 32 and an individual Custom 8 - but both may have been due to paint jobs.

Not my favorite, too ghetto, but period correct.

"Glass bricks" ??

He's using that term to describe the bullet-resistant glass.

The armored glass is as thick as glass bricks.
