Gusha, thanks for thinking of me with the numbers. For the 1938 Twelve, I'll record the numbers but I'm always a bit reluctant to accept numbers from a reproduction patent plate.

Regarding the saga of the incorrect VIN on the title of our '38 Twelve, believe it or not, the Washington State Patrol accepted all of my documentation, including the crayon vehicle number written on the underside of the rear seat cushion, and has officially corrected the title to the change the incorrect "A" to the correct "4". I was afraid they would only assign it a state VIN which would make it look more like a salvaged vehicle.

The only concession was the installation of a state tag (stamped with the correct Packard vehicle number) and the steel stamping of the chassis with the Packard vehicle number under the hood near the steering gear box.

Kudos to the Sea-Tac Inspection Station of the State Patrol.

When a teenager and the State of Washington insisted on stamping the chassis of my 1940 110, I forbid it on the grounds that it was a vintage car (although not quite yet an antique at that time) and must not be modified in such a way and in the end, I won. No stamp was necessary and shouldn't have been necessary on yours either.

On a 1941 Henney-Packard that I bought in Renton, WA, all I had was a trail of bills of sale and even with only that, it was possible to title and register it without any special stamping and without having to take the car itself anywhere.

Steve (58L8134) provided a -> link to an auction of a 1931 Packard Model 840. The photo viewer of that webpage is state of the art with almost endless zoom.
