Thank you everyone for your responses. To start, I plan on simply draining the gear oil and replacing with 2 quarts of Royal Purple Maxgear 85W-140 gear oil and 4 oz. of Bardahl gear oil stop leak and yellow teflon tape. The service manual mentions 4.25 pints of gear oil which translates to 2.125 quarts. The service manual also mentions checking the level but with what and how do you know? I was toying with MOPAR friction modifier as well. The fill hole and drain hole are pretty clear but what is the plug (red) in the upper left for? Thoughts are welcome.

I believe it's called a carrier setscrew.

I wouldn't use teflon tape. The fill and drain plugs should have crush washers on them. You can find replacements at parts stores. Put new ones on and the leaks should stop.

Don’t loosen the one outlined in red as that’s an adjustment. Don’t add additives either, especially not the non-slip stuff which is for a different type of transmission. To check the oil level, just remove the upper plug and look inside or stick your finger in. The oil should be near level with the bottom of the hole.

Yes, the parts book specifically calls out part 433248 which is a 5/8" x 7/8" copper washer. No need for Teflon tape.

Pretty sure Harbor Freight sells these, even.

Thank you again everyone. My bad on the plumbers teflon tape, I meant Blue Monster PTFE resin thread seal tape. But I will go with new copper crush 5/8" ID x 7/8" OD copper crush washers. Stay tuned.

Usually with a quick visual inspection, you can see if the differential seal is in place

The padestal set screw circled in red is described on the last page of the rear axle section. The allen key should be tightened to 2-3 ft.lbs, and the nut tightened to hold it in place. I don't think this is something that needs to be adjusted too much, but I guess you could check it if you want. It is only on the 53-54 axles from what I understand.
