It runs - AT LONG LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st day on the road with the new motor in my '39 Six, after 3 years of fighting with a persistent stalling issue and, wonder of wonders - It runs!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of power, great oil pressure, stays cool and starts like a hot damn, even when warmed up; just touch the starter button and it's running! After the hundreds of times I had taken the car out for a drive after trying all kinds of different things to cure the stalling, only to have it die again, it is indeed a joy to be able to drive around and have the car run beautifully and have a nice strong idle. I put on about 35 miles today and most of that in-town with lots of up and down acceleration in the 20 - 30 MPH range, which is perfect for new engine break-in. I re-torqued the head after one heat cycle and will do so again after 50 miles, then again at 200 and I should be good for the count. I had posted many times here, asking questions about this and got a lot of help, support and advice from many of the great folks on this site. Please accept my sincere thanks for your patience, forbearance and kind encouragement to endure and not give up. Today was a red-letter day for me and I had a blast driving the old girl around!! 'Couldn't wipe the smile off my face with a chainsaw!!!!! Thanks much, best, Chris.

Congratulations!! I can almost see that smile from here. Now that the major wallet breaker is out of the way it is on to the minor piddly ones like the bright light indicator. Soon the car will be in prime condition and nothing left to do except enjoy it.

EDIT: I just saw where you had the light conquered so chalk this up as a very productive day!

Thanks Howard, I was able to take my 92 year old Dad 'out for coffee' in style and he was over the moon about how beautifully the car ran and performed. Not sure who was happier - him or me?!?!?!?!? A real joy, I'll tell you.

Thanks Dave - it was a long road to get to this point, but all worth it when it runs like it should.
