This car is a turd, BUT it is stick w/overdrive.
Standard brakes.
VIN 5677A 2010
Thief-proof D47447
Is the gas pedal a 55 pedal or something for Clippers?? I
..believe the knob just below the heater controls is the
..overdrive lockout.
I think the rubber pedal in line with the glove box is a
..manual windshield washer? Any other guesses??
Pic of VIN tag. paint code MG trim 52.
..They apparently didn't like the Dover White, but the cowl
..and inner fenders are repainted blue also???
Pic of OD relay, kickdown switch and backup light switch.
Pic of plug in rear of carb base where vacuum lead for
..power brakes normally goes.
Pic of backup light switch. (Note the valve covers are
..painted dark blue - seem original. "Packard" lettering.
Pic of thief-proof number.

Somebody's been in this car having fun. The gas pedal with the Packard crest is part # 446276. Was original on 53 2602 up, 54 5402 up, 5560 and 5580. The pedal with the sainless trim at the top was original on all 56 series.

I looked in the parts book, not relying on my memory any longer

Nice find. Adding to your collection again? That does look like a foot operated WS washer pump and styling is similar to one Stude shows in their parts books. Hard to tell though. I think that was another of those items available at about every corner gas station back then.

Randy, congratulations and just what you needed - another project in the hopper.

I'd be really interested in the Utica engine plant code, if you have time to find it. As a standard shift car it should have a doubled alpha prefix, e.g. "BB" instead of just "B". I've never actually had the opportunity to confirm one of these Utica #s for a standard shift so I'd appreciate your checking on this when time permits.

It would be interesting to pull the build card for this car and see when it was built, it looks to be a pretty late car.

Randy,

If by some faint chance it is added to your collection you know my mantra "please add it to the Packard Owners Registry."

Seriously, can you polish a turd? I think they did that on Mythbusters once.

You and I are going to have to go out in the back of the wood shed where we can air this out with weaponry.

I don't care about the woodshed, but if an oddity like this runs and drives, I think it's worth a look!
