Any tips on painting a new 23rd series hubcap to match original? Trying to mask letters and keeping paint off chrome edges looks hard.

Some thoughts here:

Also, I've also recently become aware of "paint pens" in a variety of colors. Sort of like a felt-tip marker but with enamel paint instead of ink. They work really great in small areas and are especially good for doing the black "rings" on many Packard hub caps and shell covers.

Also this would be a short/quick job for a under worked sign painter in your area that is looking for a couple of side jobs.

Gorgeous hub caps.....I have the same style but for a 53 clipper. I was wondering if anyone would have the rims that would go with dog dish hubcaps. The rims have no clips but the rim is molded with 3 lips on it where the hubcap snaps into place.

Any ideas on where one could find rims like that either packard originals or another make or model that would fits the hubcaps??

Orv,
for including your '49 Standard Eight Station Wagon in the Registry, a great looking Packard. Hope all the trials and tribulations in getting it there were worth it!

I use model airplane paint for the letters, hand brushing them, and mask off the hexagon for spray paint. Or you can order the red reflective vinyl hexagons from the Packard Club for $10. They look really nice. The phone number for ordering them is 800 478 0012
