A little side project i have been working on......

http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121879

It's a BBQ smoker I am building out of a 55 gal drum, and the bottom of a used weber kettle I got from Craigs List. Needed a little break from the car, and this distraction will soon be the source of decent BBQ. These types of smokers are refereed to as a UDS (Ugly Drum Smoker). Pretty simple to build, and they turn out great 'Cue.

Very nice smoker. Alot prettier than the old refrigerators that are often used.

I'd expect to hear "Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes" playing at your inaugural outing with the new smoker.

Looking good. Just make sure you stick to well tested recipes. Wouldn't want any exploding food.http://news.yahoo.com/chile-daily-must-pay-readers-exploding-churros-211034284.html

Pork Shoulders (Pulled Pork), Ribs, Chicken, and Brisket are standard affair on my current smoker. Just making the switch from a propane smoker to this charcoal one. The propane one turns out some decent 'Cue, but nothing like what it tastes like over wood coals. Plus this is more of a "Pit" smoker as opposed to a water smoker.

Hopefully I can fire it up next weekend for seasoning and inaugural test run. Probably for pulled pork as you want to cook something on the fatty side to properly season the interior of the grill.

In a garage far, far away ... Very nice, I have been thinking about one of those V-8 engine BBQ grills advertised on TV, but now ...

Happy New Year, and happy smoking.
